Mckayla Maroney Gymnast Wiki Biography

Alicia Sacramone was born on December 3, 1987 in Boston, Massachusetts, and began taking gymnastics lessons at 8 years. After winning many World Championship and the U.S. national championship medals, Sacramone competed in the Summer Olympics in 2008 and returned with a silver medal in the team gymnastics for women. Since then, she is reported to have referred to possible plans to retire from the elite competition, which led fans to believe that her 2012 Olympic run may be her last.

Alicia Sacramone competed in the 2003-2011 US National Championships, winning gold eight times, and nine medals. From 2005 to 2011, she competed at the world championships, winning ten medals, including four gold medals in the competition with the sixth floor and the team. In World Cup 2005, which was held in Melbourne, Australia, she competed as part of Team USA Gymnastics, along with teammates including Chellsie Memmel and Liukin. Sacramone graduated from Winchester High School in Massachusetts in 2006.
