Desert Has a Wide Variety of Life

The desert is a landscape region that receives very little precipitation. For a piece of land to be classified as a desert it must receive not less than 250 mm of rainfall per year. Due to this low rate of sedimentation, desserts are known to maintain very small life forms. With that said, although a closer look to deserts still have a wide variety of life.

These creatures of the desert normally remain hidden, especially during the day, to preserve moisture. Approximately one third of the Earth’s surface in the world is the desert. Most often deserts worldwide have similar characteristics.

Often times, sand dunes can be present in deserts as the desert soil is mostly sand. As a rule, rocky terrain will be exposed in some areas which will identify the dispersion of vegetation and soil development. Wind-driven forces are major factors in what shape desert landscapes.
